Doc Greene

Dr.  Michael Greene was born in New Haven, CT. He attended Columbia University, did graduate work in public policy at Cornell and was awarded the doctorate in economics from the University of New Hampshire. Mike also holds a doctorate in Religious Ethics from Southern Methodist University and is an ordained clergy person in the United Methodist Church. He has lived and worked in Roanoke, VA., and Washington, DC.  Mike currently resides in Dallas, Texas, although he still considers Washington, DC. to be his home.

His academic interests include the economic thought of Martin Luther King, Jr., economic ethics, the economics of race, health economics, economic rights, and modern monetary theory. Mike is married to Laura Farnum, MD., and is the father of two children, Christopher Jacob Greene, and Patrice Michelle Greene.

Doc Greene is an avid lover of jazz and R&B. He is particularly fond of Miles, Sarah Vaughan, Lil Jimmy Scott, Andy Bey, Betty Carter, Keith Jarret, Jaco Pastorius, and Fantasia. He prides himself on having never missed a concert performed by Fantasia in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. In addition to jazz, Doc Greene is a lover and collector of hats.

Mike has a long history of involvement in struggles for social justice and the protection and promotion of human rights.
